TOPIC: GUARDING AGAINST LUSTFUL THOUGHTS
MEMORISE
Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life (Proverb 4:23).
Read: Romans 12:1-3
[1]. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
[2]. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
[3]. For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.
EXPOSITION
In the journey of faith, we encounter various challenges. A very prominent one is the battle against lustful thoughts. In a world saturated with images and messages that promote sensuality and instant gratification the call to purity of heart and mind is more crucial than ever. The Bible warns us of the dangers of allowing lust to take root in our hearts: _But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart_ (Matt 5.28 NIV). This verse accentuates the importance of addressing not only outward actions but also the attitudes and desires of our hearts.
Therefore, we need renewal of the mind and new thought patterns (Rom. 12:2) through the instrumentality of God’s Word and the Holy Spirit, for us to see ourselves and others through His eyes, with love, respect and purity. Be mindful of what you see and hear. Rely on God’s grace to protect you from media, or situations that may tempt you. Choose carefully what you let into your heart and mind. Focus on the Bible and meditate on things that are good, pure and worthy of praise (Php 4:8).

1. Though the world allure with its gilded charm,
I’m a child of God, whom it cannot harm;
He will me uphold by His mighty arm,
Every moment of my day.
Chorus:
I’ve a friend who will ev’ry need supply,
I’ve a home far beyond the starry sky,
And you know, that is just the reason why,
I am singing Hallelujah!
2. I can ne’er forget how upon the tree
Laid the son of God, there to die for me;
Yet to save my soul, thus it had to be,
There could be no other way.
3. I would e’er be true to my Lord and King,
Every waking hour praise to Him sing,
Knowing that at last He my soul shall bring,
Ever more with Him to stay.
Amen.
