Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king’s house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to behold. – (2 Samuel 11:2).

[1] It happened in the spring of the year, at the time when kings go out to battle, that David sent Joab and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the people of Ammon and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem.
[2] Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king’s house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to behold.
[3] So David sent and inquired about the woman. And someone said, “Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?”
[4] Then David sent messengers, and took her; and she came to him, and he lay with her, for she was cleansed from her impurity; and she returned to her house.
[5] And the woman conceived; so she sent and told David, and said, “I am with child.”
[6] Then David sent to Joab, saying, “Send me Uriah the Hittite.” And Joab sent Uriah to David.
EXPOSITION:
Pornography refers to sexual contents, like pictures, videos, or texts meant to sexually arouse. Social media contributes to its spread, but it is not just limited to social media; nudity is freely visible in different places, like markets, workplaces and educational institutions.
The story of David and Bathsheba is the closest event on the subject of pornography in the Bible. This is because he saw the nakedness of a woman. He was caught in the web when he was idle. You cannot watch pornography and masturbate when your mind is busy with work, studies, business, etc., or when you are amidst people.
One usually leads to another. David, in his attempt to cover up his sinful acts, eventually committed murder and stole another man’s wife (2 Samuel 12:9). Lust led him to this. Masturbation and pornography are the lust after the eyes, heart and the flesh. They lead to addiction, and then, to slavery to sin (John 8:34), including terrible ones like rape, fornication and adultery. Consider: who can honestly say that he/she is masturbating, or watching pornography for the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31)? It is satanic and destructive shun it like a pandemic.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. I refuse to fall into sexual sin, in Jesus’ name.
2. Pray against the dangerous influences of masturbation and pornography in our society.
3. Pray for government to be sincere enough to censor online contents to save our children from pornography.
